-
- Avoid using different types of colors and font sizes as this can be irritating for the people recruiting you. The font size should be formal and simple according to market standards.
- Use bullets in their right places as this will make the employer's work easily and will help you highlight the main points.
- CV pages should not exceed 2 full pages. Length is not essential if it does not add useful information.
- Do Not use exaggerations and don't sound arrogant and challenge the company or the interviewers.
- When you list your skills don't be general, be specific. Anybody can say they are good at something, but saying that you are experienced or having an extensive knowledge conveys that you have done what you are saying and that it is actually a skill not just CV filling.
- Know the job requirements of the job for which you are applying.
- Make sure that when you list your responsibilities you include tasks and skills that are relevant to what the requirements of your desired job are.
- Break up large blocks of text, add specific headings for large contents in order to avoid conflict.
- Check your punctuation and grammar.
- Consider your e-mail address before writing it down, make sure it's a professional one not a usual mail used for casual conversation.
- Last step, is to have someone you trust go over your CV with fresh eyes looking for incorrect grammar, mistyping , formatting, inaccuracies, misplaced information.
